Getting Started: About iGoogle

Print

Google offers the ability to create a personalized iGoogle page that gives you at-a-glance access to information from Google and across the web. On this self-designed page, you can choose and organize content such as the following:

  • Your latest Gmail messages
  • Headlines from Google News and other top news sources
  • Weather forecasts, stock quotes, and movie showtimes
  • Bookmarks for quick access to your favorite sites from any computer
  • Your own section with content you find from across the web

iGoogle's new look

Recently, we made a couple of changes to iGoogle to provide increased functionality and easier navigation.

Canvas view for gadgets

canvas view

Now, canvas, or full page, views are available for some of our most popular gadgets. You can get to the canvas view of a gadget in two ways:

  • Click its title in the left navigation.
  • Click the maximize icon in the top-right corner of the gadget.

Left navigation

Instead of tabs along the top, you can now see a list of your tabs along the left side of your iGoogle page. Clicking any tab opens that tab; clicking the plus sign next to any tab reveals a full list of the gadgets in that tab.

Viewing your tabs this way allows you to see all of a tab's content without having to go to the tab and to open any gadget from any tab in one click. (Clicking any gadget in the list will open that gadget in canvas view, which you can learn more about below.)
